21 and still forever....

I had volunteered to run in a relay for our Running Club alongside my sisters. This is where I met him. He intrigued me. He was running in a group of 4, I was in a group of 8. He was much faster than me and although he had to run more often, he kept coming back to chat to me. I had hoped he would. We chatted the whole afternoon. There was definitely something there. Something clicked. It felt right. I had just returned from my first year of Uni and decided to continue studying at home. I hated Durban. I had left my friends, a flat and my boyfriend behind. It was not the happiest of times. Steve had just joined Anglo American as an HR Management Trainee, he had just left Durban too. We had both been there over January, cycled down to the beachfront each day and never met. The following week we were back at the Running club, time trials were over and we were enjoying a quietly rowdy drink. I saw him. Plopped myself down amongst his friends ...

A sweet lesson on patience.

I am posting this, not as my own story but one I received on Facebook this morning from a friend from Mmabatho days. Thanks Ruth Loggie.  It has great meaning to my life at the moment. I have always loved the concept of passing it on. Of how a little gesture can mean so much to someone. Whether small or large each of us can make such a difference in each others lives.  Enjoy, and shed a little tear like I did..... 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like someb...

Bloody Hell

Image
I opened my eyes this morning in bed. Bloody hell! My back was killing me, Jessica's toe nails were cutting into my ankle and I was not sure I could roll over to get up. Reminder switch - Cut Jessica's toe nails tonight after her bath. Bloody Hell, hope I remember that. We finished our little morning snuggle and with a quick peck, we were both up.  Her faster than me.  I crawled onto my exercise mat, yes I exercise every morning, and began my routine - stretch, stomach, butt and back, stretch, sun salutation, done.... that was over thank bloody goodness. I managed to wash, dress and make it downstairs before the kitchen was deserted. Jess never eats with us, she tumbles out of our bed, stumbles downstairs and fills her tummy immediately. She is always starving in the morning and cannot wait to eat. Steve gets very upset. Bloody hell, I will never get to eat with that kid. By the time we get downstairs washed and dressed, she is tumbling upstairs to do the same. This...
